Make a Telescope Experiment

Recommended for ages 10 and over
Year 5 to Year 8 (P6 - S2)

The pack contains 2 lenses - a small eyepiece lens (the one you look through in a telescope) and a large objective lens (the one which gathers the incoming light).
Pupils explore the different properties of the two lenses - one is concave, the other convex - and then use the lenses to make a working telescope.

This experiment introduces pupils to the following ideas:

Using lenses to change the way that things appear;

Combining two lenses to make a telescope;

The importance of making several measurements;

Using existing results to predict what will happen when one variable is changed.

Make a Telescope Standard Pack (Primary)   (S09)   £10
Make a Telescope Standard Pack (KS3)   (K09)   £0
Additional Telescope Lenses   (P09)   £6
plus £3 p+p if your total order value is less than £30.

The Standard Pack contains:
